Ideal candidates are committed to advancing the Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. The successful candidate will have prior experience troubleshooting and repairing audiovisual and information technology systems. This position is integral to the Zoo and the Information Technology Department. Main priorities consist of operating technical tracks and audio mixing during public presentations, diagnosing and repairing IT & AV equipment, and providing front-line support to the Zoo staff and events.

To be successful in this role, candidates should have basic understanding of AV & IT concepts and terminologies including AV & speaker connection, audio/video file formats, wired and wireless mic & PA systems, PC installation and maintenance basics, network connections and addressing, Microsoft Office Suire, software and hardware installation, printer maintenance, and point-of-sale systems. This is full-time, 40 hours/ week, position that will require flexibile availability for weekend, holiday, and overtime shifts, as needed.

The anticipated work shift for this position is Tuesday-Saturday, typically concluding at 9pm.

Position responsibilities and experience:
  • Must be 18 years old and have a valid driver's license with a record insurable by the Zoo's insurance.
  • Previous professional experience as an AV or IT Technician other related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related field from accredited institution is highly desirable.
  • Must be able to operate all computer systems at an advanced level.
  • Ability to descend/ ascend ladders, steps, and uneven terrain, while maintaining body equilibrium to perform various tasks.
  • Collaborates with relevant animal care and education staff for presentations.
  • Tracks inventory of AV/IT equipment, performs preventative maintenance, and assists in budgeting for equipment replacement.
