Your Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will assist in owning the architecting and building of scalable user experiences. You will take end-to-end ownership of new features that will directly impact millions of customers who care for their furry family members every day. You will help drive innovation, scalability and maintainability while partnering with other highly skilled engineering teams. Above all, you will be an authority who gains the trust and confidence of those around them, from hands-on engineers to executives.

What Youâll Do:

  • Design, develop and implement large scale distributed systems with large volumes of data focusing on scalability, latency and fault tolerance.
  • Architect, build, deploy and scale frontend Payments Single Page Applications
  • Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to team and customers, and act as technical point of contact to customers, taking responsibility and ownership of project timelines and work
  • Develop Systems / Component architectures and APIs for a rapidly scaling platform, while ensuring successful product delivery and operational excellence.
  • Pursue engineering excellence, leading platform level initiatives such as Kubernetes migration, building true CI/CD pipelines and refactoring our applications into a true Payments as a Service implementation
  • Own and operationalize the critical metrics for Payments, building industry leading telemetry/logging to settle state and health for the applications you own
  • Lead research and initiatives for cloud native designs and implementation within public clouds, primarily AWS.
  • Enforce enterprise architecture and coding standards (scalable, performant, readable, and tested code) and ensure your code reviews set the bar for the rest of the team
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication and be able to convey dissenting opinions in a constructive manner, particularly written communications
  • Promote mentorship and guidance for peers and more junior engineers
  • Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams

What Youâll Need:

  • A Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of professional development experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing scalable, impactful, and fault-tolerant applications for large enterprises
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with Java or other Object-Oriented Programming languages
  • 3+ years of experience developing large-scale products using frontend technologies using React/JavaScript/ES6/Typescript/CSS
  • 3+ years of experience in building event-driven architecture, processing large datasets, relational & No-SQL databases
  • 3+ years of experience in the Payments domain, with a good understanding of payment processing, wallet management and integrating with 3rd party payment processors.
  • Experience with micro-services, micro-frontend, and SOA
  • Expertise in measuring, evaluating, and tuning application performance using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace and Datadog
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & standard processes for the complete SDLC, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Hands-on experience working in a public cloud environment (AWS)
  • The position may require travel

Preferred:

  • Experience in e-commerce and/or Healthcare
  • Experience with accessibility testing
  • Experience in building scalable apps in React, Java and AWS (or similar cloud platforms)
  • Experience with Cucumber, Playwright, Cypress, Gatling or similar automated testing tools
