Registered Nurse Specialty Clinics

PRACTICE: Delivers self-directed, professional nursing practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) for complex patients based on conscious and deliberate planning with occasional supervision.
Expectations:
1. Independently plans and delivers technically competent care to patients with complex needs in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
2. Manages the care of patients, while organizing and prioritizing patient care needs, and ensuring assigned tasks are completed.
3. Functions as an emerging leader in providing direction to staff to identify, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
4. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the plan of care is achieved.
VETERAN/PATIENT DRIVEN CARE: Provides and directs others in Veteran/patient driven care by optimizing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for a team of patients.

2. Maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient. Role models and displays ethical behavior.

4. Models' high reliability principles and I CARE values to improve patient outcomes.
LEADERSHIP: Communicates and collaborates as an effective member of the interprofessional team demonstrating leadership responsibilities such as team leader/charge nurse.
Expectations: 1. Demonstrates knowledge over a wide range of job responsibilities, effectively communicating with individuals and groups to build a strong sense of teamwork and purpose.
2. Actively contributes to the collaboration process and clearly communicates ideas to promote team success. Makes meaningful and challenging contributions for the betterment of the work group.

2. Models effective resource utilization through the delegation of cost-effective care delivery.
3. Recruits' peers to participate in unit level performance improvement activities.
4. Integrates individual preferences and goals into evidence-based decision-making.
Customer Services Requirements: The incumbent meets the needs of the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran's representative, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff and other customers while supporting VA missions. The incumbent consistently communicates and treats the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran representatives, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff, and other customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
