Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

The Northport VA Medical Center is seeking a health care provider who actively participates in the care of patients under the service or hospital where the provider is employed (ie: urology/surgery patients if employed by the urology/surgical services)


The Urology House Officer will work full time in the division of Urology under the Department of Surgery. The HO will function as a provider under the supervision of a VAMC privileged Urology attending to provide health care in the specialty of Urology , encompassing clinical, surgical and administrative responsibilities. The scope of practice will be defined by the supervising Urology attending, but will not include independent practice, independence to perform surgical procedures although will be permitted to perform supervised appropriate clinic setting procedures. This scope of practice will also include an assistant to an attending Urologist in the surgical theater. The HO will be expected to maintain competency through peer review as an annual measure of said proficiency. Additionally, the HO is required to participate in CME activities relevant to the field of Urology, Surgery and or related skills. Administratively, the HO is administratively and clinically responsible to the chief of Urology and or the Surgical chief.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with On Call
