Summary

Duties

What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will serve as the Region 9 NFIP Endangered Species Act Lead, overseeing the Region's Endangered Species Act (ESA) compliance program related to FEMA's implementation of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all aspects of project management for the development of environmental compliance documentation and implementation and integration of compliance activities into local floodplain management programs.
  • Working knowledge and experience with the principles of project management from the beginning of employment to fulfill the requirements of the position.
  • Advising the FEMA Region 9 leadership team on ESA compliance in relation to the NFIP through regular reporting and preparing and delivering senior leadership briefings.
  • Defending agency positions effectively through written and oral means by leading meetings, developing leadership briefings, and maintaining close relationships with stakeholders at the Federal, state and local levels.
  • Coordinating input from multiple internal and external stakeholder groups with competing viewpoints into a comprehensive compliance approach.
  • Directing, coordinating, and overseeing subordinate personnel and contractors to ensure the successful completion of all project tasks with aggressive deadlines.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
