The Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities team (GFICC) at J.P. Morgan Asset Management is one of the world's deepest and best-resourced fixed income managers, with expertise across all major fixed income sectors, including niche markets. Every investment decision in our fixed income solutions is underpinned by the proprietary research of a globally integrated team of sector specialists. Our shared research language, combining fundamental, quantitative valuation and technical inputs, facilitates the comparison of ideas across sectors and geographies. Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities manages a broad range of strategies, through funds and/or separate accounts, including broad market, long duration, stable value, intermediate high yield, emerging market debt, short and ultra-short duration, global bonds, structured products, mortgages and tax-aware strategies.
Role Summary
As an Asset Management - Corporates and Securitized Product Portfolio Manager within the Global Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities (GFICC) team, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and implementing separately managed account fixed income portfolios. You will focus on limiting downside risk, team member security selection, and price valuation in efficiencies in the market. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategic asset allocation and optimized portfolios which outperform client defined benchmarks utilizing relative value, macro, and microeconomic analysis. Your role will also involve providing analysis of portfolio positioning, sector allocations, and key risk metrics, and determining account & portfolio suitability of securities for participation in investment recommendations.
Job Responsibilities
- Fixed income investing with focus on limiting downside risk, individual security selection and price valuation in efficiencies in the market
- Oversee for developing and implementing strategic asset allocation and optimized portfolios which outperform client defined benchmarks utilizing relative value, macro and microeconomic analysis
- Provide analysis of portfolio positioning, sector allocations and key risk metrics
- Determine account & portfolio suitability of securities for participation in investment recommendations
- Study market commentary, research opinions, and economic forecasts to assist in determining tactical investment strategy
- Actively participate and represent the platform's philosophy, process & strategy styles at client, consultant and internal meetings
- Participate in the planning and development of new business processes
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Minimum 3+ years of related Fixed Income portfolio management and/or trading experience
- Idea generation and implementation in risk budgeting, analysis, portfolio sector allocations and trading skills are all important to success in this position
- Strong aptitude to identify and minimize investment/business risk
- Excellent decision making and problem solving skills, requiring only limited guidance and oversight
- Ability to manage complex and at times conflicting priorities and constraints in at times a high stress environment
- Strong aptitude in desktop technology/productivity tools such as Excel. VBA, Python or other coding
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Mathematics.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Preference will be given to candidates with their CFA designation and/or a postgraduate degree
- Experience with portfolio management tools such as Bloomberg, Yield Book, Intex, InvestorTools Perform preferred
- Experience trading IG credit and/or securitized (Mortgage Backed, Asset Backed, Commercial Mortgage- Backed) fixed income securities a plus
- Preference will be given to candidates with their CFA designation and/or a postgraduate degree.
