Assistant Building Official

Under the administrative direction of the Building Official assist in the work involved in planning and supervising the operations and activities of the Building Department, including supervision of the building, housing, electrical, plumbing and heating inspection services and the enforcement of related rules, regulations, codes and ordinances.
Assist in the performance of the City's planning and zoning responsibilities.
Assume supervisory, managerial and administrative duties of Building Official during their absence.
Performs on-site inspections of footings, foundations, framing, roofing, siding, insulation, drywall and demolitions.
Enforces building related codes, including abatement of dangerous building code, housing code, fire code, State building code, the BOCA National property maintenance Code, Abatement of Dangerous Buildings Code, and local codes such as sprinkling, nuisance, clearing, grading, filling, and zoning, etc., Issue correction notices and citations.
Also attends meetings in the absence of the Building Official and performs the duties of a Plan Examiner.
Registered as a Building Code Official, Plan Reviewer and Building Inspector in the State of Michigan.
