Access and Outreach Librarian

Job Description:
The Goddard Library of Clark University seeks a dynamic and innovative professional to serve as Access Services and Outreach Librarian. This position will play a central role in shaping and expanding our outreach programs while managing borrowing, curricular resource support, and inter-library loan at Clark University in collaboration with departmental colleagues in the library and campus partners. Reporting to the Head of Instruction, Research, and Access, this role provides leadership related to promoting the services, resources, and spaces of the library through social media engagement, programming, displays and other outreach strategies.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to outreach and will be able to develop and implement programs that reach under-served populations, including but not limited to students with learning accommodations, first-generation college students, international students, and BIPOC students.

 

The Access Services and Outreach Librarian coordinates a dedicated team of over twenty student staff to deliver front line information services including borrowing services, inter-library loan, course reserves, study room coordination, and our growing Library of Things and helps ensure seamless access to resources and services that enhance the educational experience at our institution.

 

Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the realization of the strategic vision of the Instruction, Research and Access Team, with a focus on outreach. This includes shaping and refining services such as borrowing services, curricular integration of library resources, open educational resource advocacy, outreach activities, and inter-library loan through collaboration with departmental colleagues and campus partners.
Team Management: Manage a team of students by fostering their growth and ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs and services aligned with the institution's mission and goals.
Collaboration and Partnership Through Outreach: Collaborate with library colleagues, department heads, the University Librarian, and campus partners to promote engagement and utilization of library spaces, resources, and services, contributing to the realization of the library's larger strategic vision by leveraging effective outreach and engagement strategies.
Assessment and Innovation: Utilize data-driven insights to assess, report, and enhance outreach and engagement, curricular integration, borrowing services, and inter-library loan offerings. Stay current with emerging trends in technology and information-seeking practices.
Committee Participation: Engage in library and campus-wide committees as appropriate, contributing expertise and insights to institutional decision-making processes, with a focus on developing and implementing outreach initiatives.
Professional Engagement: Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills relevant to the field of library science, including current trends in higher education, academic libraries, information technologies, and pedagogical approaches by engaging with professional literature and/or through active participation in voluntary service, publication, presentations, and membership in relevant professional organizations.

Requirements:
ALA-accredited master's degree in library and information science or a relevant master's degree in a related discipline and three years of experience working in an academic library setting.
Knowledge of current industry trends related to student success, diversity, equity, & inclusion in higher education, library outreach, and engagement.
Enthusiasm for leveraging technology, web applications, and productivity tools to enhance library services.
Experience in fostering an inclusive workplace, with effective communication skills across a diverse range of constituents.
Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, faculty, and staff to achieve shared goals.
