We are looking for someone who will effectively lead BASF Key analytical expertise in the NMR, FTIR and Raman technical areas to Provide Analytical Solutions to Various Business Units within BASF for Structure Elucidation analysis.

As a Analytical Scientist, You Create Chemistry By...

  • Developing and promoting spectroscopy analytical techniques including NMR, FTIR or Raman to support BASF global R&D and business needs.

  • Being responsible for operation and maintenance of a 500 MHz NMR from Bruker and a Raman instrument from Horiba and a FTIR instrument from Fisher Scientific.

  • Providing project leadership to determine appropriate methodologies, to identify and/or quantify chemical compositions for a wide scope of projects including new product development, competitive analyses, trace analysis for production and product support, customer technical service and global regulatory compliance submissions.

  • Working on multiple projects with a variety of research teams in a highly multi-tasked environment.

  • Demonstrating your ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams to coordinate analyses and provide desired results.

If you...

  • Have a Ph.D, in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific field with 0-2 years’ experience, or a Masters with 3 – 5 years’ experience.

  • Posess extensive training and hands-on experience on analytic techniques such as NMR, FTIR and Raman for structure elucidation, characterization and quantitative analysis of chemicals and polymers.

  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel, as well have good time management skills.

  • Possess strong focus on customer and business needs, which is essential.

  • Are experienced with mass spectrometry and/or UV-Vis Spectrometry is a plus.
