All of our summer positions are fully residential and all of our staff teams will be actively involved in the various events and activities that we put on for our students.

We are currently recruiting for a Leadership Teacher and for Counselors.   

REIMBURSEMENT:

Before the start of the session, we run a three-day orientation (dates are inclusive of this).

Staff members receive reimbursement after the session. Travel reimbursements and any finders’ fees are paid separately.

We provide accommodation for all staff. Meals are provided in the halls of residence once students arrive, however, staff are responsible for their meals during Orientation.

Yale: $2400 USD for the session

Travelling within the US:

Up to $350 reimbursed for travel to/from Yale

Leadership Teacher Summer School Yale 

WHAT DOES THIS JOB INVOLVE?

As the Outdoor Leadership Teacher you will develop and lead this unique 3-week course, which aims to help our students develop and build on essential life skills like communication, decision-making, teamwork and confidence. 

Our campus at Yale offers the perfect backdrop for this course, with a wealth of facilities available in both locations. During the course you will lead your students through a range of varied and exciting outdoor activities, from sailing to group games and team building exercises, helping them to reach their personal goals and have fun.

You will have your own class of international students aged 13-18 years old. Our classes are kept small in order to provide individual attention, personalised instruction and create an encouraging, supportive and fun environment for students to learn while making new friends from around the world. 

Although we provide every teacher a guide as to what each lesson should achieve, we ask our teachers to bring their own experience and personality to each class and create their own stimulating and challenging lesson plans.

We are looking for an experienced Outdoor Educator/facilitator who is an expert in leading team-building activities for young people and is confident in their skills and knowledge to develop an exciting and challenging three-week programme.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching a class of international students, 3 hours per day, 4 afternoons per week for the duration of the 3-week programme
  • Creating and delivering lessons tailored to improving students’ confidence and leadership skills in an outdoor setting
  • Taking part in evening activities (compulsory rota basis)
  • Making sure students are safe and happy at all times
  • Being a positive role model.

WHAT SKILLS/EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?

  • Previous teaching experience is essential
  • Previous experience teaching leadership skills in some capacity 
  • Experience in teaching international students preferred
  • You must be fluent in English.

SUMMER SCHOOL COUNSELORS

WHAT DOES THIS JOB INVOLVE?

Counselors at ISSOS work as a team to look after the welfare of up to 160 students aged 13-18 years old. They also help to organise and run the sporting activities and our varied evening programme.

Individually, each counselor is in charge of their own group of up to 15 students. Counselors act as positive role models and are the first point of contact for our students, who come to us from over 80 countries around the world.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Looking after the welfare of our students
  • Helping your group to bond and being a positive role model for them
  • Running and taking part in the evening programme and sporting activities
  • Running and supervising the cultural trips included in the programme
  • Making sure our students are happy and safe at all times.

WHAT SKILLS/EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?

  • Previous experience working with young people (minimum 2 years) is essential
  • Interests in sport, music, theatre, dance and other hobbies would be advantageous
  • You must be fluent in English.
