Position Summary:

The 2nd Pressman is responsible for the feeder area of the sheet fed press and for assisting in safe, efficient and economical press make ready, operation, washup and maintenance in conformance to company rules and procedures.

Shift: 6:00am - 6:00pm, rotating

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the operation and make ready of the sheet fed press.
  • Assist start up and operate the press efficiently.
  • Assist in clean up of the press including washing blankets, blanket cylinders, impression cylinders and other areas of the press requiring cleaning.
  • Gum plates thoroughly so they run easily when used again.
  • Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication, roller inspection and deglazing, new blanket preparation, clean water tanks and make roller changes.
  • Calibrate the densitometer and pH meter according to procedures specified in the equipment manuals.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of procedures contained in the quality manual, standard operating procedures and work methods and demonstrate consistency in following those procedures.
  • Provide complete and accurate information at shift change.
  • Use the floor shop data collection terminals and display consistency and accuracy in meeting the data collection requirements specified by management.
  • Work together and accept direction from supervisors, management and peers to improve quality and performance.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • Work overtime when needed.
  • Learn and comply with company and pressroom Standard Operating Procedures.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-year work experience in the same or functionally similar position required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate/understand written as well as oral instructions.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
  • Reliability through attendance, punctuality and attention to workstation.
  • Demonstrate positive safety attitude.
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency in any language (including ASL) preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive work.
  • Frequent walking and standing.

The national pay range for this role is $20.00 - 25.00/hour. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
