Summary

The Inpatient Float Pool Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.

This is an Open Continuous Announcement. This announcement will remain open until all positions have been filled or until the closing date of this announcement. Applicants will be referred over to the hiring manager on a regular basis based upon vacancies. Applications are good for 90 days and then you will need to reapply.



Duties

The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest. As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran. This is done in the context of healing relationships and healing environments and a connection back to the Veteran's community. This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to Honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being.

The Inpatient Float Pool Registered Nurse duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
  • Provides coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.
  • Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
  • Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Interprets cardiac rhythms.
  • Completes mandatory and annual competencies for equipment and procedures, adhere to unit-based protocols, and work collaboratively with other disciplines in the Medical Center.
  • Participates in in-services and performance improvement activities and customer services programs at unit and service line levels.
  • This position may be required to float to other units
Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Work Schedule: This is an intermittent position. Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment in which employees are appointed without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. Work hours are Sunday through Saturday Varying Shifts with Weekend, Holiday and Day/Overnight Rotations. Expected availability for this position is one 12-hour shift or or two 8 hour shifts per biweekly pay period.
