Summary

These positions are located in National Capital Parks-East, in the National Capital Parks - East (NACE) Division. The purpose of interpretation is to enrich people's lives through meaningful experiences and enjoyable recreation; preserve and protect natural and cultural resources through broad collaboration and shared stewardship; and inspire social and environmental consciousness to build community and sustain the health of the planet.



Duties

The major duties of the Park Ranger (Interpretive) position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Interpretation and Communication- develop and deliver formal programs, informal visitor contact, and digital media.
  • Visitor Services- coordinates daily operation of Visitor Center, volunteer programs, etc.
  • Training- training, mentoring, coaching, and evaluating a broad range of interpretive programs.
  • Education- develop and deliver in-park, off-site, and/or virtual education programs that tie NPS resources to education standards.
  • Safety- promotes personal, visitor, and staff safety by including risk assessments in all decisions and actions.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
