Pharmacy Supervisor

Summary

The Supervisory Pharmacist is a partner to the Chief, Pharmacy Service and, in their absence, is responsible for all Pharmacy Service Programs; The incumbent supervises CPRS and VISTA prescription order entry by clinical and operational pharmacy staff, monitors compliance with clinical safety and efficacy policies and rules & regulations set forth by the PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management office) as well as order entry within the Scope of Practice assigned to pharmacy staff at all GS levels.

Duties

• • Assist the Chief, Pharmacy service in performing the administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised.
  • Assist the Associate Chief of Clinical pharmacy services in supervision, compliance and enforcement of clinical practice guidelines regarding outpatient prescription entry and drug procurement.
  • Assist the Chief, Pharmacy service in establishing guidelines and performance expectations for professional staff.
  • Ensure that employees meet performance standards and competencies and identifies areas for improvement as needed.
  • Coordinate staffing and assess workload shifts throughout the day for maximum efficiency of FTE hours.
  • Develop and establish policies and procedures defining operational requirements.
  • Assist Chief of Pharmacy to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements.
  • Represent Pharmacy Service at all meetings and committees.
  • Assist with pharmacy activities related to Fee Basis.
  • Assist the procurement team with automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Maintain and promote inventory management systems.
