- Department: Planning & Zoning
- Employee will be responsible for managing complex planning projects including comprehensive plans, master planning and/or urban design, and high profile private and municipal revitalization and redevelopment projects.
- The Principal Planner is expected to assist the Assistant Planning & Zoning Director in the overall management of current and future development projects and planning related activities throughout the City.
- Reviews and processes a wide range of zoning applications and building permits to include both residential and commercial building permits, site plan review, subdivision platting, landscape plans, administrative variances, certificates of use, group homes, right-of-way vacation/dedication, signage, tree removal/relocation and addressing.
- Represents the Planning & Zoning Department at meetings of boards and committees within the City or at other levels of local government, working groups, and committees on planning matters.
- Has working knowledge of Adobe design software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), AutoCAD, Google SketchUp, and ArcView GIS.
- Planning experience must include managing projects at a responsible level for state, county or local government planning agency or private organization directly involved in community planning, urban planning, landscape architecture, urban design, community development or land development and design.
- Do you currently possess the American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) certification?
