The Division of Endocrine Surgery at the University of Miami, Leonard Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a fellowship-trained surgeon to join our surgery team.  We have a strong multidisciplinary group that works to provide high-quality clinical care and access to cutting-edge clinical trials.   

Job Functions:

Participating in clinical and educational activities related to the Division of Endocrine Surgery and the Department of Surgery

Provides patient Surgical Services to include OR, and other clinical care at the University of Miami Hospital System (UMH) under the governance of the University of Miami Medical Group (UMMG) and at Jackson Health System (JHS)  

Educate medical students, surgery residents and fellows, nurses, and other medical personnel at UMH and JHS Facilities 

Interacts frequently with colleagues and attendings from multiple departments and divisions  

Provides presentations and is encouraged to publish

Billing clinical services and documenting in the patient’s medical records in a timely manner, according to policies and procedures  

Reply to any billing and documents discrepancies and issues related to documentation    

Abide by practices outlined in the Medical Faculty and UMMG Manuals

Attends weekly divisional meetings and is responsible to go to Departmental Faculty Meetings and attend Grand Rounds     

Responsible for email inquiries due to urgent issues

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Along with proper training and certification, the incumbent must have a keen interest in and concern for the needs of endocrine surgery patients and other related surgical anomalies 

Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques  

Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatments 

Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette 

Performs duties in tactful and professional manner 

Fluency in multiple languages is greatly valued because of our local and regional demographics

Strong commitment to patient care and education and an interest in clinical research 

Minimum Education and Work Experience Requirements: 

M.D. degree 

Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery  

Valid DEA Registration and Florida Medical License

0 – 10 years post fellowship clinical experience in the field of Endocrine Surgery preferred Current Employees:
