The Florida A&M University’s College of Education is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applicants for a Director vacancy. The Director of the Center for Academic Success director oversees the advising process, assigns and maintains the advisee/advisor lists, prepares the annual advising calendar and advising materials, participates in registration and other enrollment management activities, provides advisor training and development, conducts ongoing assessment efforts, and develops and executes programs for students related to academic and career advising. The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Education and works in collaboration with other University Stakeholders to ensure the success of students within the College of Education.
Responsibilities
Leads advisors and provide ongoing resources, support, and training to the advising team in developmental advising and student success; Updates and maintains necessary online resources for Matrices and the central Advising office; Represents the College of Education by liaising with existing offices, including enrollment management, Office of the Registrar, Academic Advising, Freshman Studies, and Admissions; Develops and maintains a working relationship with the College of Education Candidate Empowerment Center, Office of Field Clinical Placement and P-20 partnerships, and LLC Scholars program; and works closely with the Department Chairs to implement an inquiry-based advising model steeped in students’ academic and creative interests, structured by a semester-to-semester continuous goal-setting and reflection process.

In collaboration with faculty and student services staff, develop long and short-term advising initiatives that enable students to reach the learning outcomes set forth by college degree plans; Participates in regularly scheduled College of Education leadership meetings; Assists in the planning and delivery of course registration and federal, state, and university reports; Assists students in evaluating their progress toward completing their degree and fulfilling their Program of Study requirements in close collaboration with the Registrar’s Office; Assists Faculty Chairs and program coordinators with organizing, developing, and coordinating student information events and resources about College of Education majors, including transfer students; Attends and prepares for the Office of Admission, Transfer Student Orientation Coordinator to plan and facilitate New Student Orientation for first-time and transfer students; Works with the Office of International Affairs for recruitment and external and international travel opportunities for the College of Education students; Serves as a college liaison for student success initiatives; and maintains accurate College of Education records for the Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chairs, Program Chairs, and faculty to know the comprehensive number/percentage of students and transfers.

Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated supervisory experience in the general field of education planning; implementing programs, and working on developing and evaluating and adhering to new policies and procedures; responsible for planning workshops, staff development, and in-service training.
Recommended Competencies
Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills;

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;

Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously;

Ability to utilize problem-solving skills;

Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices;

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a discipline housed in the College of Education or related field.
Pay Plan
This is a Faculty position.
Conditions of Employment
