Houston, United States University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Full time
With 30 years of continuous extramural funding, the Cancer Prevention Research Training Program (CPRTP) at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center prepares scientists and clinicians to achieve leadership roles as research investigators in the field of cancer prevention and control. To date, more than 600 trainees, from undergraduates to graduate research and health professional students to postdoctoral fellows have participated in mentored research experiences with established leaders in cancer prevention, in a specialized cancer prevention curriculum, and innovative and evidence-based professional development training before launching successful careers in the field. Multiple programs within the CPRTP provide short - and long-term training experiences to recruit and prepare individuals for leadership and career advancement. Generous donor endowments fund our postdoctoral program at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The postdoctoral program goals are to expand the fellow's knowledge of cancer prevention under the guidance of experienced research scientists and practitioners. The mentored research is coupled with a robust training plan, including professional development activities, a cancer prevention educational curriculum, and an individual development plan. Trainees will lead mentored research; attend cancer prevention science seminars; present their research at scientific meetings; participate in professional development seminars and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Our program will immerse postdocs in the type of cross-disciplinary research environment characteristic of cancer prevention and control, risk assessment, and survivorship to launch a career as a scientist, principal investigator, or research practitioner early in their career. The CPRTP is committed to building a demographically and scientifically diverse research workforce.
