Your Opportunity: Venture Solutions (a Taylor company) is looking for a Software QA/QC Manager responsible for managing 10+ QA/QC professionals responsible for validating documents output from our secure communication management systems. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the quality of documents by reviewing, validating and confirming artifacts against data and requirements. Additionally, this position is responsible for compliance, ensuring proper handling and processing of sensitive data and print products.

This location adheres to the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). All employees must undergo a federal background check, which requires U.S. citizenship.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Test application functionality output (Statements, letters, document, etc.) to specifications and provide feedback to software developers, managers and product managers
  • Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
  • Estimate effort required to perform all QA activities assigned
  • Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management.
  • Hiring, developing, mentoring and managing a team of 10+ QA/QC professionals for a high-volume print environment
  • Lead defect meetings, test planning meetings, and other QA initiated meetings
  • Mine for data, backend validation, and perform data quality analysis.
  • Hold and facilitate requirement clarification and test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members/teams
  • Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves or recommends solutions to a diverse range of complex software testing problems. Uses judgment within defined policies and practices (includes software and technical documentation solutions).
  • Plan, balance, and coordinate the resources to ensure the team sets and meets customer expectations/SLAs, project budgets, and project schedules
  • Work effectively within a team environment to implement projects in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with Client service, Sales & Operations for the purpose of meeting client expectations and deadlines
  • Drive innovation and change in processes and technologies to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the organization
  • Manage support activities for the legacy applications and serve as a primary escalation point for the team, account management, and company management regarding applications support related issues
  • Develop and track metrics that address quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the team
  • Build and maintain solid internal and external relationships, consulting as necessary with Sales, Client Services and Client teams regarding new and existing Client projects. Build trust by demonstrating technical competency, knowledge of the customer's needs and the industry, a sense of urgency, and a successful track record of meeting client expectations
  • Manage and communicate job prioritization working with various stakeholders and IT team - acts as a gate keeper
  • Ensure that all prioritized projects are delivered on-time
  • Manages resource availability and forecast allocation to meet project deadlines
  • Manage all internal and external staff to maximize productivity and efficiency in carrying out IT projects
  • Working with IT Director, manage project personnel responsible for implementation of the project tasks [holds and chairs regular meetings, prioritization of work, motivate staff, manage conflicts and crises]
  • Assist in development of efficient workflows and processes
  • Mentor, lead, train employees in technical complexities of assigned work
  • Responsible to confer with technical contacts regarding how to resolve system issues
  • Mastery of data security and information security compliance


You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Project Management, or relevant work experience in leading QA team in financial industry.
  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience in hands on QA/AC of crucial communication documents
  • 5 years IT management and/or technical project management experience. Experience should include leading QA teams on support projects as well as implementation of new projects.
  • Exposure or relevant experience in software applications development, data processing, or page composition experience
  • Experience working in a critical communication or similar compliance related industry
  • Experience and or working knowledge of mortgage statements and correspondence
  • Experience and or working knowledge of manipulating and processing data supplied by mortgage service providers (Black Knight, Fiserv, etc.)
  • Familiar with document comparison software like Adobe, Delta, etc.
  • Experience and or working knowledge of composition tools like OpenText Exstream or Quadient Inspire
  • Experience and or working knowledge of document and content technologies like Solimar SPDE & Rubica, Compart Mill Plus, and Quadient Interactive
  • Experience and or working knowledge of prepress and variable data printing is preferred
  • Experience and or working knowledge of workflow management tools like Jira
  • Basic knowledge in Marketing/Advertising, Print Industry and USPS Mailing requirements
  • Experience required in project task prioritization, resource scheduling and delivering work in established timeframe
  • Experience with multi-tasking, multi-processing in a fast-paced IT environment
  • Experience in negotiating and communicating deadlines with internal/external stakeholders
  • Detail oriented and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a busy production environment
  • Possesses and applies a moderately broad knowledge of business principles, practices, and procedures
  • Can read and understand complex standard requirements artifacts requirements matrices and process maps
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of resource capacity planning & forecasting
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of best practices in software design and programming principles
  • Experience in proofing and reviewing of critical communication documents (Bills, Statements, Letter, Benefit docs, etc)
  • Team player and good communication.

We would also prefer:

  • IBM VSE CoBOL mainframe technology
  • Transitioning development from a mainframe environment to a Microsoft Windows ETL based environment
  • Certification that supports your Technical, Leadership and Management credentials
  • Experience with Jira or Agile (Kanban) is a plus
  • Industry preferred: Mortgage, Finance, Banks, Healthcare
