Responsibilities

- Assist with the optimization and maintenance of optimal data pipeline architecture with partnership from sites and corporate teams (IT, Finance for example).

- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.

- Assist with the identification, design, and implementation of internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

- Help to maintain the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL script and 'big data' technologies like Databricks.

- Build and improve analytics tools in PowerBI and MES platforms that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into equipment reliability, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

- Work with data and analytics experts from our data science team to strive for greater functionality in our data systems from enterprise level to shop floor.

Qualifications

- We are looking for a candidate with 2+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role, who has attained a degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field. They should also have experience using the following software/tools:

- Big data tools such as Databricks

- Relational databases such as SQL server

- Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools, preferably Power BI.

- Experience with MES systems: Mattec, Vorne, Ignition, Factory Talk, etc.

- Experience in database tools such as MS Access, SQL Server Management Studio, etc.

- SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL or Python) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

- Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.

- Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.

- Strong project management and organizational skills.

- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
