This position is eligible for our Clinical Laboratory Incentive Program. Performs a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the UNCHCS.
Hours: Flexible hours can do 4-10 hour shifts Monday-Thursday 8:30am-7:00pm
Monday -Friday 10:30am-7:00pm
Investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
May perform teaching of Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents and training of new employees. Performs quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
Performs routine and less standardized test procedures which includes special chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic laboratory tests. Observes tests and reactions and provides data.
Reports results to healthcare providers. Consults/confers with health care providers regarding test results.
Requires Bachelor's of Science degree. No prior experience required.
Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
If Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, then must be ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and must receive BOC within a year.
? If Associate's degree in chemical or biological science, Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Board of Certification (BOC) required.
