Salesforce Field Service Engineering organization designs, develops and supports the Field Service Management platform and applications that helps technicians, appointment bookers, dispatchers and other back-office personnel to support installing, maintaining and fixing assets at homes and business locations. We are looking for a seasoned engineering architect to lead our architecture efforts on our platform.

Your Role, Your impact:
  • Hands-on principal architect who will lead by example.

  • Work with other architects, principal architects, principal engineers, and the leadership team to craft the architectural vision and roadmap for the organization.

  • Drive strategic technology initiatives, working with and influencing Product Managers, other Architects, Engineers, SME's, and the broader Salesforce organization.

  • Serve as the architecture strategy's primary steward and key voice, communicating decisions and tradeoffs to internal and external teams. Coordinate architecture decisions across teams.

  • Work with external teams in resolving dependencies.

  • Define, design, and review the data models within the team and participate in the Data review board.

  • Ability to deliver in ambiguity and clarify product requirements and roadmap.

  • Articulate and vet the technical scope, size, impact, risks, and feasibility of the features. Ensure that the architecture and design are cohesive with well-founded, long-term visions.

  • Analyze and provide input into product strategies, requirements, standard methodologies, and operational guidelines, with a focus on continuous improvement of the product.

  • Engage and work towards innovations with your peers and broader team.

  • Ability to mentor team members to support their understanding of the architecture and aid in their technical development.

  • Coach and mentor the Lead and principal engineers you work with, emphasizing defining and solving non-functional requirements.

  • Build an environment for clear and open discussion. You involve the right people, from your team and others, to resolve critical issues.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years experience architecting and building applications with complex service/microservice architectures and a mix of client-side and back-end technologies.

  • Mastery of multiple programming languages and platforms such as Java, JavaScript etc.

  • Experience in coordinating and driving the end-to-end architecture of the product.

  • Proven experience in driving long-term technical strategy and architecture vision.

  • Tried experience influencing and driving consensus across organizational boundaries.

  • Experience working in large enterprises with globally distributed engineering teams.

  • Experience in Data Modeling, Database Fundamentals, SQL and Schema.

  • Experience with observability and monitoring solutions.

  • Experience in the full software lifecycle.

  • Experience with Agile development methodology.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in architecting, designing, and implementing on the Salesforce Platform and as a Package.

  • Experience in working with customers in resolving issues and analyzing root causes.
