The primary role of the job is to assist in the creation of map products utilizing ArcGIS and AutoCAD in an ESRI and Google Earth environment. This includes creating, updating and maintaining various maps, aerial products and their associated layers; property boundaries, geologic information, wetlands and associated environmental permit information. Additionally, the job may have opportunities in the areas of geology, civil engineering and environmental science as applicable to the candidate’s abilities. What you will do:Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations. Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulationsCreating and producing mapping products using different data inputs.Assisting in the creation, organization and maintenance of a corporate GIS program.Setting key data points in the field using GPS and drones and then translating that data into an accurate mapping product.Utilizing large format color printer (plotter) with different media.Coordinate with land managers, geologists, environmental managers and production personnel to produce their required products.Assist with the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs under the guidance of the EHS Manager.Assist in site EHS training.Conduct inspections and audits of facilities.Develop working knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.Conduct geological surveys and analysis to determine the quality and quantity of resources.Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize mining processes and equipment.Assist in environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.Review exploratory drilling logs and collaborate with others to determine location, size, accessibility, and estimated volumes of deposits.Assist in determining short-range and long-range planning designs using mine planning software.Shadow operations, safety, and/or performance personnel at aggregate sitesBroader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed What you will need:Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Hydrology or a related field or graduated within the last 6 months.Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of study towards their degree program.Working knowledge of ArcGIS, Google Earth and the use of .kmz filesLeadership experience as demonstrated in extracurricular activities on campus or in the community.Highly motivated self-starter.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong Microsoft Office skills-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.Excellent analytical and problem solving skillsOrganizational, time, and project management skills.Must have the ability to work without close supervision as well as ability to work with a team.Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
