PCU is a high-energy unit that promotes a positive culture and work environment with flexible scheduling; Nurses on this unit are teamwork oriented and have excellent support staff which include nursing assistants, telemetry technicians and unit secretaries. We care for a diverse patient population including, but not limited to, respiratory, cardiac, and neuro illnesses. PCU staff meet once a month for unit council to address staff concerns and serve as a voice for the unit. Unit council also plans activities which include unit outings, in house activities and volunteer opportunities.
The clinical nurse, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Clinical Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate degree or higher. DNP/PhD – if not minimum BSN prepared, new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience is required to sign an educational contract upon hire to complete BSN within specified timeframe and adhere to contract stipulations. Graduates from non-accredited school of nursing programs must have at least one year of acute care experience or greater than 2 years of experience in a licensed health care role, such as an LPN or EMT role, etc., CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Critical Care, Emergency Care, Pre-Op and PACU, Radiology 180 Days required

Actively participates in hand offs of care, including the patient, family and partners in care.

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital
Serving the region since 1957, this 99-bed, full-service acute care center is the only one in the Wayne, Westland, Garden City, Canton, Inkster and Romulus area verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level III trauma center and certified by The Joint Commission. The hospital has a long-standing partnership with Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to handle a variety of health and communicable disease concerns.
