RN House Supervisor - Full Time (Nights)
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for coordinating patient transfers, room assignments, admissions/discharges, and coordinates appropriate patient care staffing in conjunction with the nursing department directors. Makes administrative decisions, provides direction, and authorizes and acts in the absence of the department manager and/or hospital administration. Reports to Director of Nursing. Non-Exempt position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs Registered Nurse duties within the RN scope of practice.
Provide leadership for clinical and resource excellence, personnel management, fiscal accountability and maintains positive working relationships with staff, physicians, managers, patients, their families and public.
Administers the effective distribution and utilization of personnel employed during the respective shift.
Make assessment rounds of all patient care areas throughout the hospital.
Provide support, guidance, and education for the staff and assists them as needed.
Keeps managers and directors apprised of bed capacity and barriers to patient placements, including the need to consider treat & transfer.
Responds to codes and Rapid Responses, and coordinates caregivers during the codes.
Provides guidance to the Charge Nurse in deciding unit staffing and intervenes in patient placement issues.
Promotes problem identification and investigates hospital incidents.
Assumes the position as the point of contact for news media, law enforcement, coroner, etc.
Coordinates transfer of all patients in and out of the hospital, ensuring completion of appropriate forms and notification of receiving facility. Ensures compliance with EMTALA regulations.
Interprets organizational policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing departments as necessary.
Provide for the initiation of legal Mental Health Holds and provide for transport to appropriate evaluation facilities. Ensures patient, staff, and visitor safety while ensuring that the patient's legal rights are not violated.
Coordinates Pastoral Care according to the needs and requests of patients, families, and staff.
Responsible for coordinating the organ donation process upon request of the blood tissue bank.
Keeps the Director of Nursing & the Administrator on-call informed of any circumstances or situations that have or may have serious impact on patients, physicians, and/or nursing staff.
Evaluates, in conjunction with Department Directors, the accuracy of nurse to patient ratios before each shift.
Assists with reconciliation of department patient charges as needed.
Ensure licensed personnel practice within their scope of practice.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Current Texas Registered Nurse license required.
Two years of experience in nursing required.
Current BLS, ACLS, TNCC certifications required, and either PALS or ENPC required. NRP preferred.
A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and previous leadership training and experience strongly preferred.
Required Skills
Must possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
Functional Job Requirements:
Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.

Job requires heavy lifting on an occasional basis.
