The American Egg Board (AEB) was created by an Act of Congress in 1976 at the request of America’s egg farmers, who desired to pool resources for national category-level egg marketing.

Home to The Incredible Egg and Egg Nutrition Center, AEB is dedicated to increasing demand for all U.S. eggs and egg products. For more than 40 years, America’s egg farmers have supported this mission by funding the AEB. The AEB is 100 percent farmer-funded, and those funds directly support the research, education, and promotion necessary to market eggs.

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

As a key member of the Marketing & Communications team, the communications manager will support the development and execution of a range of integrated communications programs targeting consumers, media, business-to-business/professional and agriculture trade audiences across a variety of platforms and modalities. Core communications responsibilities span: 1) Promotion and Education – Effectively communicate the benefits of eggs and egg farming to influence perceptions and shift behavior; 2) Reputation Management and Thought Leadership – Establish the AEB and the egg industry as progressive leaders in the food industry and agriculture; 3) Engagement and Relationship Building – Drive awareness and build/strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in the press, with influencers, and among AEB members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Support the Director of Integrated Communications in activating a range of programs for the Marketing & Communications function. Liaison with AEB personnel across functions and support communications needs across the organization.
Develop, write, and edit communications collateral, press materials, bylined articles for senior leadership, newsletters, website content and presentation materials.

o Directly support the CEO by managing and writing LinkedIn content (posts, articles).

Manage and coordinate projects and ensure accountability of deliverables with agency partners.
Develop and update media lists, media toolkits, and assets.
Conduct media outreach and coordinate media interviews.
Collaborate with AEB’s manager of marketing and social media to leverage communications content on AEB social platforms and support the earned influencer program.
Support partnerships with organizations and other commodity boards throughout the year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required, with Journalism, PR, Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred.
4 years of experience of integrated marketing communications projects is required.
Prior experience in food/beverage or agriculture industries strongly preferred.
Hands-on background in media relations.
Established communications acumen.
Proven ability to write compelling media and communications materials, such as media advisories, press releases, op-eds, fact sheets, social media posts, and blogs, conversant in consumer and professional writing styles.

Exceptional project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrable creative thinking skills.

HYBRID OFFICE

Employees will be required to spend 40% of their employment time in the Chicago office. Business travel will be counted towards this 40%.

TRAVEL

This position requires approximately 5-10% travel, including outside the local area and overnight.
