Senior Program Manager – Strategic Health Informatics (Department of Veterans Affairs)

Position Description:

We are seeking a visionary Program Manager to spearhead transformative health informatics initiatives within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This role demands a blend of strategic foresight, leadership, and deep informatics expertise to navigate and deliver complex programs that significantly improve the quality and efficiency of Veterans' healthcare services. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of managing large-scale healthcare projects, demonstrating exceptional ability to drive strategy, innovation, and operational excellence in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the VHA’s mission and strategic goals, ensuring integration across various healthcare priorities and initiatives.
  • Program Oversight: Manage a diverse portfolio of projects from conception through implementation, guaranteeing timely delivery, adherence to budget, and achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between VHA leadership, internal teams, external partners, and key stakeholders to ensure cohesive efforts and alignment on initiatives.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Leverage the latest in health informatics and other technology and methodologies to foster innovation, streamline operations, and enhance the delivery of Veteran healthcare services.
  • Team Leadership : Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals, fostering an environment of collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence.
  • Analytics and Decision Support: Employ analytics to guide strategic decisions, assess program performance, and uncover opportunities for improvement and growth within the informatics domain.
  • Risk Management and Compliance : Ascertain that all projects comply with federal regulations and VA policies, actively managing risks and addressing potential issues.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in healthcare informatics, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in program management, with at least 5 years focused on health informatics or a related field within a healthcare setting. Demonstrated understanding of VHA operations, federal health care policies, and government contracting processes.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, with a proven track record of strategic program delivery and innovation.
  • Strategic Vision: Strong strategic planning and visioning skills, with the ability to identify emerging trends in health informatics and apply them within the context of Veterans' healthcare.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of effectively articulating vision, strategy, and technical information to a diverse audience.
  • Analytical Proficiency: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in utilizing data to drive decision-making and program improvements.
  • Certifications: Project management and/or health informatics certifications (e.g., PMP, CPHIMS) preferred.

This position includes a hybrid of remote work and customer site (VA Central Office, VA facilities in which VHA Program Managers and Program Management Offices reside).
