Welcome Surgical Technologists

Surgical Technologists are an active member of the nursing team working collaboratively in the Operating Room and procedural area, functions under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and is responsible for assisting the RN in carrying out the individual plan of care based under the RN assessment.

A typical day in perioperative services consists of 9-10 OR rooms running 30-35 cases per day.

· We specialize in Orthopedics total joints, Ortho Spine, Neuro Spine, Laparoscopic and Robotic General, GYN, Urology, Vascular, ENT, and Plastics.

· Daily we huddle at the OR board beginning at 630am about information, supplies, and any other pertinent information.

· We have multiple shifts available 8’s, 10’s, 12’s and call guarantee shifts.

· We pride ourselves on treating patients the way you would treat your own family.

*Qualifications/ Certifications required*
* Certified by the Association of Surgical Technologists, The National Board of Surgical Technology, the Surgical Assisting Liaison Council Certificate of Surgical Technology, or the National Center for Competency Testing is required.
* Current CPR certification

*Duties*
* Demonstrates the ability to anticipate the sequence of surgical procedures
* Assist the RN with implementation of plan of care based on the RN assessment.
* Demonstrates ability to implement and maintain sterile field with a thorough knowledge of aseptic practice.
* Assembles and sets up all necessary equipment and supplies for a surgical procedure.
* Participates and verifies with the RN surgical counts.
* Verifies and handles specimen according to policy.
* Participates in Time-Out according to policy.
* Participates in unit education for performance improvement and to promote quality outcomes.
* Demonstrates the knowledge of the limits of the Surgery Technologist role and functions within the limits listed in the job description.
* Provides orientation and training to assigned personnel.
