The Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Physician Assistant to join the busy and growing Department of Cardiac Surgery. These duties include, but are not limited to: first assisting cardiovascular surgical procedures, endoscopic vessel harvesting, preoperative history and physical examination, postoperative care in an outpatient clinical setting and patient education.  
The successful candidate will also support patient care from the point of admission to discharge in service, Step-Down, and ICU. Extensive training and supervision are provided to the Advanced Practitioners for skills such as arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and removal of pacer wires.
In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists. The Advanced Practitioners are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care of patients under the direction of the attending cardiac surgeons in collaboration with the cardiologists and consultants.
Role: Open to Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners
Schedule: Full-time salaried, rotating includes day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday coverage.

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Master’s program
2+ years’ experience in cardiovascular surgery and/or 2+ years’ experience as a PA/APRN in critical care setting
First assistant experience, including endoscopic vein harvesting skills preferred
