The Role: Founding Data Engineer

As our Founding Data Engineer at Everyday Agents, you will be central in establishing and managing the data that powers our AI-driven travel concierge application to support personalizing travel experiences. You will play a crucial role in building our data infrastructure and oversee the development and maintenance of our data pipelines and storage solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in integrating various data sources, including user interactions and travel content, into our platform, ensuring robust and scalable data solutions. Your work will require strategic thinking to ensure that our data infrastructure aligns with the evolving needs of our AI models and business objectives.

In this key position, you will report directly to our co-founder and VP of Data & AI/ML, Cian Menzel-Jones. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Designing, building, and maintaining databases and data pipelines for storing and processing information about travel content, user profiles, and interactions.
• Overseeing the creation and management of a robust data warehouse, utilizing cloud computing platforms like GCP or AWS, and ensuring the efficient orchestration and workflow of data across the company.
• Forging strong relationships with our engineering and machine learning teams to align the data infrastructure seamlessly with our AI solutions, ML models and user interface.
• Leading the charge in adopting the latest technologies and practices in data engineering as required, ensuring that our systems are scalable, efficient, and state-of-the-art.
• Playing a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our data engineering efforts, ensuring that our infrastructure can support rapid development and deployment of new features and capabilities at scale.

Desired Qualifications

• Exceptional coding skills with a requirement for proficiency in Python.
• Familiarity with big data technologies like Kafka, Spark, Hive/Iceberg, Postgres, Redis.
• Strong background in building and managing large-scale data infrastructures, particularly in a startup or growth-oriented environment.
• In-depth knowledge of GCP or AWS, with a focus on data storage, processing services, and orchestration tools.
• Proven history of working effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly in translating complex technical requirements into actionable data solutions.
• A thorough understanding of the data needs for AI and ML applications, and experience in building infrastructure to support these technologies.

Bonus Experience

• Strong familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts
• Built scalable and robust infrastructure for generative AI systems
• Building and maturing Data Engineering teams and infrastructure in a startup environment

Total compensation & pay transparency

The compensation package for this role is meant to align with top Series-A companies and includes:

• Cash Compensation:The expected total cash compensation is $180K - $240K
• Equity:As a founding data engineer on the team, you will be granted significant ownership in the company
