About the Gas and Diesel Mechanic Position
As a Gas and Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will help maintain and repair 2013-2022 Thomas C-2, 2014 Thomas flat nose, 2017-2022 Chevrolet mini buses, 2012-2019 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2017 Ford Explorer, 2020 Ford Transit Connect, 2021 Toyota Hybrid Sienna, 2022 Honda Odyssey vehicles and school buses to ensure vehicle readiness & safety. Other major job duties include:
Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions.
Ensure work orders are completed accurately.
Assist with mobile emergency services.
Valid driver’s license required; Willingness to obtain CDL while employed – We train
At least 1 - 5 year of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education
Possess a mechanic’s tool set
Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses are provided
Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
