Specific duties include: (1) managing the health, daily care, and nutrition of livestock, including claves, cows, bulls, heifers, steers, horses, pigs, sheep, and goats; (2) evaluating ranch performance to ensure that goals are met; (3) providing leadership to employees; (4) working with the owner to develop and implement grazing plans that balance the needs of the land with the production goals of the operation; (5) working with the owner to develop and implement a weed and brush control plan; (6) performing detailed recordkeeping of livestock births, deaths, sales, purchases, and other transactions; (7) managing the branding, castration, and dehorning of livestock; (8) interviewing, hiring, and training employees; (9) purchasing supplies, equipment, and livestock; (10) overseeing herd health, vaccination programs, and medical treatments; (11) overseeing cleanliness and organization of all animal pens, stables, and barns; (12) overseeing repair and maintenance of ranch equipment and machinery. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, or related; one year of livestock industry experience.
