Bi-annual step increases of 2.The Land Use Services Department of San Bernardino County is recruiting for a Planning Director who will oversee the Planning Division and assist the Department in coordinating, planning, organizing and administering the daily operations, as well as assisting with the formulation of policy and the administration of the department. The Planning Director will oversee the Planning Division budget, implement goals and objectives, supervise subordinate personnel including supervisors, and foster effective working relationships with other departments, agencies, and organizations.
This position is in the Unclassified Service and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.
The Land Use Services Department is dedicated to ensuring a balance in the areas of housing, business, and recreational needs for the diverse cultures and communities of San Bernardino County. This is accomplished through comprehensive regional planning and enforcement of building standards, land uses, and environmental impacts. The Land Use Services Department continues to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors to San Bernardino County by providing a framework for orderly growth while maintaining the highest level of public safety.

Bachelor's degree in planning, urban design, business/public administration or a closely related field.
--Experience: Five years of supervisory or administrative experience in a complex land use or urban planning organization that is exposed to steady growth and development.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's Degree in Business, Public Administration or Planning with experience in land use and economic development agencies and a certification with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). This candidate will have the experience to implement the County's vision of healthy communities, quality amenities, and diverse neighborhoods with a sense of place, history and culture. This ideal candidate must value diversity, innovation and sustainability for our communities.
