He/she will demonstrate a broad knowledge of marine electrical and electronic systems and coordinate with a team of fellow subject matter experts to carry out the following fundamental duties:

  • Electrical Inspector Responsibilities*
  • Promote the company services safety culture and adhere to all safety guidelines while conducting daily inspection activities. Make safety a priority in everything we do.
  • Attending regular inspections to verify and record shipyard adherence to their internal quality processes and industry standards during fabrication, testing, commissioning, and trials.
  • Validate and record that all electrical equipment installations are compliant with the requirements of the Specification and the manufacturer’s standards and ensure that the workmanship results in a high-quality electrical system installation. This includes high voltage, low voltage, and signal/data cable installation and termination.
  • Support the development and review of the FMEA, DVTs, PSTP, and other key documentation required to demonstrate vessel compliance and support certification.
  • Evaluate proposed changes to the electrical/electronic systems or procedures and assist with the resolution of technical issues.
  • Oversee the installation and integration of the diesel-electric propulsion plant, its control systems, and the vessel’s Power Management System.
  • Provide oversight and expertise regarding other critical systems including the bow and stern thrusters, command and control systems, navigation and communications equipment, the ship’s IT network, and more. This includes the Dynamic Positioning System and future DP trials.
  • Attending dockside testing and sea trials as required to support final testing and commissioning of the ship’s systems.
  • Provide recurring status updates to the Project Manager and vessel Owner, which may include quality findings, key metrics, performance trends, preventive/corrective actions, and other information.
  • Coordinate and resolve complex issues with regulatory bodies, particularly ABS and USCG.
  • Electrical Inspector Position Requirements*
  • Seven (7) years of related marine experience with at least three (3) years of direct experience in new construction shipbuilding.
  • Proficient in marine electrical systems best-practices, techniques, the ability to read and interpret ship construction electrical drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language
  • A keen attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs
