X-ray Technician Position Description

Job Title: X-ray Technician
Department: Radiology Department
Reports To: Radiology Manager/Director

Overview:
As an X-ray Technician in our medical facility, you will play a crucial role in providing diagnostic imaging services to patients. You will be responsible for operating X-ray equipment to produce high-quality images for medical interpretation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnostic evaluation, sonography, CT, mammography, physiology knowledge, medical terminology, aseptic technique, and anatomy knowledge. You will be responsible for operating fluoroscopy equipment in the surgical suites, as well as radiographs, quality control, patient care, cleaning, and stocking supplies. Must be a team player and possess the ability to communicate with technologists, staff and physicians. ARRT and Tennessee State license required.

Responsibilities:
- Perform X-ray imaging procedures following established protocols and physician orders.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate imaging results.
- Adhere to radiation safety standards and protocols.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of X-ray equipment.

Skills:
- Proficiency in diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Knowledge of sonography, CT, mammography, nuclear medicine, and anatomy.
- Understanding of medical terminology and physiology.
- Ability to utilize aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center is a plus.

Requirements for Applicants:
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) required.
- Prior experience as an X-ray Technician in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
