Works with Patient Care Managers, Business Manager, Scheduling Supervisor, Physicians, Anesthesiology staff, and other ancillary departments and staff to plan, organize, direct, and control the daily activities involved in the effective and efficient management of the OR schedule while providing continuous and high-quality service for the perioperative patient. Responsible for Control Desk goals, objectives, policies and procedures, staffing, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement insuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Associate's degree in Nursing Required
* Bachelor's degree in Nursing Preferred
5-7 years operating room experience Required
* CNOR - Certified Operating Room Nurse Preferred
Manages the day-to-day operations of running the OR schedule as well as the activities of the weekday Control Desk staff, and evening, night, and weekend Supervisors. .
* Collaborates with the Anesthesiology Medical Director and Anesthesiologist in charge to ensure that the schedule runs efficiently in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Participates in the development of scheduling policies and procedures and schedule preparation; adheres to team limitations, case types, urgent/emergent demands, and case start times and length. Works with healthcare providers outside of the department to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum.
* Monitors the allocation and utilization of personnel, based on continual changes in patient population/needs as it pertains to providing the best level of patient care while identifying savings opportunities.
* Monitors the quality of service and utilization standards and assumes specific responsibility for patient care at the department level.
* Investigates and resolves patient/family/Surgeon concerns regarding patient care; Attends division meetings and participates on hospital committees and task force as requested.
* Maintains knowledge of current trends and development in the field of nursing through reading the appropriate literature and attending related seminars, conferences, etc.
