Civil Service Title: Medical Sonographer Technologist (U)
The individual in this position is responsible for providing sonography services and procedures for patients at all SIU ultrasound sites.
Sign-On Bonus: Now offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year employment commitment for candidates identified for hire before June 20, 2024.
Conduct standard sonographic exams on obstetric and gynecologic patients, both in assistance to physician and independently.
Prepares patients for ultrasound examination/procedure including the paperwork. Assist attending physician in the performance of obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound guided procedures and examination.
Completes the sonographer's portion of the imaging report with accurate information, including CPT codes for billing purposes.
Accurately completes Touchworks encounters for billing of ultrasound exams and procedures.
Assists with chart prep for the Sonography Unit.
Assists with cleaning of ultrasound equipment and exam rooms.
Assists with stocking of ultrasound supplies in exam rooms.
Rotates through all sites/locations covered by the Central Sonography Unit.
Works varied hours based on clinic needs.
Academic/Teaching Responsibilities
Provides education in sonographic theory and techniques to ultrasound interns, medical students and residents.
Assist in collecting data and developing research projects appropriate to field.
Assist in implementation and collection of data for faculty-initiated research.
High school graduate or equivalent; Current/valid registration, certification or licensure in Medical Sonography, accreditation in sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS); Condition of Employment: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
