GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

To provide Audiology services to the patients of Driscoll Children’s Health System. To assist with coordination of specific departmental activities and/or services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Assesses patient needs by selecting, administering, and interpreting appropriate evaluation tools.
Provides amplification and/or assistive technology to appropriate candidate.
Educate parents and professionals on areas relating to hearing sensitivity, auditory processing and remediation of hearing loss.
Educates patient and family members regarding evaluation findings and recommendations.
Complies with clinical documentation requirements.
Completes required documentation to support dispensing and purchasing hearing aids.
Completes required documentation for newborn hearing screening program.
Participates in a variety of patient care related team meetings.
Participates in departmental meetings.
Participates in process improvement.
Communicates with referring and community physicians to maximize patient care, establish a professional relationship and develop a consistent referral base. Informs Manager of any difficulties.
Maintains billable productivity level as required.
Generates suggestions for improving work processes.
Will provide Holiday/Week-end on call coverage as needed.
Provides in-services within the department, hospital and professional and lay communities.
Demonstrates an understanding of evidence based practice.
Demonstrates the ability to use computer/software applications required for the job.
Ensures all equipment is in good working order with current calibration.
Complies with infection control responsibilities in the department. Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children's Hospital business.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree in Audiology; OR
Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Au.D.) or equivalent.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Current Texas Licensure as an Audiologist
Current BLS certification
