Air Squared Manufacturing, Inc. is a leading designer and manufacturer of scroll type compressors and vacuum pumps for the medical, automotive, aerospace, fuel cell and power generation industries. Air Squared is aggressively pursuing the compressors used in auxiliary air systems on board fully electric trucks and
buses. Scroll compressors are unique in that their designs include a variety of Mechanical Engineering specialties to fully
Understanding of heat transfer principles is necessary to manage thermal effects during scroll device
operation. This knowledge is crucial for optimizing compressor reliability and performance by designing for efficient heat dissipation.

This knowledge will be applied to optimize compressor performance metrics like efficiency and discharge temperature.

Mechanics of Materials: A strong understanding of material properties is essential for selecting appropriate materials for scroll devices we fabricate at Air Squared. This knowledge will be applied to ensure component strength, durability, and performance.

Dynamics & Statics: The ability to analyze scroll device operation using principles of dynamics and statics is crucial. Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software is required to analyze compressible flow in our scroll devices. We are seeking a mechanical test engineer who is driven, perceptive, organized, has leadership abilities, works well with others, and has good attention to detail.

Scroll Compressor Testing
Design and Build Scroll Compressor Test Stands: Develop and fabricate test stands specifically designed for evaluating scroll compressor performance
Select and Install Scroll Compressor Test Equipment: Choose appropriate test equipment (pressure transducers, flow meters, temperature sensors, etc.) and ensure proper installation for accurate data collection
Test, Analyze, and Troubleshoot Scroll Prototypes: Conduct comprehensive performance testing of scroll compressor prototypes, diagnose issues, and recommend solutions
Data Acquisition & Programming with LabVIEW: Program and utilize LabVIEW to automate data acquisition from test equipment and analyze scroll compressor performance metrics
Mentorship and Training: Provide training and mentorship to junior test engineers and engineering technicians on scroll compressor testing procedures and data analysis
Lead the Testing Team Technically: Standardize processes procedures and test methodologies for scroll compressor testing. This includes defining best practices, documenting procedures, and ensuring consistent and efficient testing across the team.
Perform other duties related to scroll compressor testing as assigned by management
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience with a proven track record in testing
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical test engineer
Minimum of 5 years of experience using LabVIEW for data acquisition and analysis
Proficiency in using a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks or a similar program, to understand and interpret test stand designs
Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN) bus
Knowledge of Engineering Equation Solver (EES) or MATLAB for test data analysis
Experience with PLC programming and control systems for test stand automation
Background in automotive
A keen eye for detail is crucial for identifying even minor bugs or inconsistencies in software behavior
