I am the medical director for Sound’s hospital medicine practice at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. I take pride in being part of Sound’s hospital medicine practice and want to extend a warm welcome to recent graduates as well as seasoned clinicians. We are a team of 32 physicians and two advanced practice providers (APPs).
Our team is youthful, vibrant, and actively involved, fostering a supportive and collaborative mindset.
While some providers complete their tasks exclusively on the units, many utilize our office space for documentation and calls, facilitating a collaborative and social environment.
I lead by example, though, in my role as an ambassador medical director, I cannot undertake clinical responsibilities. I seek providers willing to assist colleagues, are unafraid to seek help themselves, and are open to feedback and change when it benefits the patient, team, or hospital. Our emphasis is on performance improvement, which relies on providers’ commitment to enhancing their skills and development.
Sound is focused on quality care, providing dedicated clinical performance nurses to each team to help them succeed, and invests in their providers in terms of offering professional development and leadership training.
The facility has a lower-than-average population of homeless and unfunded individuals.
We anticipate active engagement from all our providers, whether it involves participating in hospital committees, acting as a unit representative, or leading initiatives related to areas such as sepsis, patient experience, and substance abuse.
We work within a system that is expanding its academic influence, backed by comprehensive support from all subspecialties. Additionally, our hospital’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was formerly a hospitalist, and we benefited from his endorsement and assistance.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Applicants must possess internal medicine or family medicine privileges and are not required to perform procedures.
We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
We’re a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
