Leads clinical staff conferences for the discussion of the diagnosis, treatment, treatment goals, and discharge planning.# Maintains current knowledge on staff caseloads to assist in the assignment of cases. On a regular and timely basis, communicates with the Medical Director on all matters important to the functioning of the Unit including:# Difficult to manage patients, situations involving patient liability to the unit or Hospital, unanticipated expenses, staffing patterns and problems, and any unusual situations in patient care. Instructs professional and non-professional staff members in the psychiatric care and treatment of the mentally ill. Orders and reviews laboratory and other diagnostic test reports. When assigned, makes Court evaluations and testifies at hearings. Provides consultation to patients in the general Hospital upon request. Provides after-hours and weekend coverage. Functions as attending psychiatrist for assigned patients on the Inpatient Unit.# Supervises the formulation and carrying out of the treatment plan for assigned patients. When requested by the Medical Director, actively participates in any clinical program of the Behavioral Health Service Line. In the absence of the Medical Director, assumes additional clinical responsibilities for the Inpatient Unit. When requested, assists in formulating institutional policies and procedures.# When requested, reviews, evaluates, prepares, and submits reports relative to his/her responsibilities.# As requested, participates in the Consultation and Education program.# Provides supervision and teaching to learners and trainees within Behavioral Health Services. Adheres to and ensures the adherence to Medical Staff By-Laws. *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. *Performs other duties as assigned. # Educational and Knowledge Requirements Must meet the Hospital/s requirements as to general qualifications and in addition, must possess a license to practice medicine in the State of Pennsylvania. Job Summary
