The primary purpose of the OR Manager/ Operating Room position is to be responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations. Supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Ensure staff members provide safe patient care in the area managed.
Incorporate and assist staff members with assimilating evidence-based knowledge into decisions for the provision of safe patient care with the assistance and guidance of the Director.
Assist staff members in evaluating practice and creating strategies for further improvement.
Coordinate, facilitate and manage change regarding the surgical schedule.
Facilitate or serve as a member of team in planning perioperative patient care.
Conducts annual performance reviews on direct reports.
Assist in interview process for staff member selection.
Ensure that appropriate staff members, equipment, and supplies are available.
Ensure staff members compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, governmental regulation, and professional standards of care.
Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to the perioperative team.
Work closely with Inventory Specialist to obtain supplies, implants, and specialty items needed for surgical procedures. Manages Inventory Specialist and Supply area.
Assist staff with day-to-day processes in the operating room.
Manages Sterile Processing area and staff. Collaborates with sterile processing team regarding schedule and instrumentation needed. Possess and provide good customer service skills.
Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
Compliant with OV policies.
Basic Computer Skills
Two years perioperative services experience
Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
Working irregular hours including evenings
