Two years of recent (within the past five years) Registered Nursing experience.
* Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
* Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.
WOCN will work 4 10-hour shifts
* No weekends or holidays (Emory Healthcare observes 9 holidays each year)
Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
* Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
* Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
* Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.
* Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
* Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.
* Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
* Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
* Two years of recent (within the past five years) Registered Nursing experience.
* Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
* Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.
* Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred.
* Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.
* ACLS may be required on some units.
11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
