Registered Nurse - Duke Hospital - PRN
Endoscopy Clinic 2H
Duke University Health System- Duke Hospital seeks to hire a Registered Nurse who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.
The Endoscopy Unit at Duke South Clinic is a procedural hospital-based clinic with 7 procedure rooms and 20 prep and recovery bays, caring for an average of 50 patients/day. This area has an advanced GI program. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time.
Work Hours & Shifts:
* PRN
* At least 1-10 hour shift per week
Must have 2+ years of RN experience to qualify for PRN
* Med/Surg, Operating Room, PACU, ICU, Endoscopy, and/or Emergency Department experience preferred, but not required, for a high volume, high acuity endoscopy and pulmonary procedure unit. Procedures performed include: general GI procedures and pulmonary procedures as well as interventional procedures. Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required.
* All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date
* Nurses hired at Duke Health with a valid compact license are required to obtain their North Carolina nursing license within 90 days of their start date.
* Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process
* Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
* Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others.
* Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care.
* Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools Ability to use fine motor skills.
* Ability to record activities, document assessments, plan of care, interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status.
* Ability to use computer and learn new software programs.
* Ability to navigate the entity to provide clinical care for patients.
* Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions
* Working knowledge and completion of appropriate JCAHO and other regulatory requirements
* Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing Required
