Monitor Technician, Nursing Unit

The Monitor Technician under general supervision of the Director, and in collaboration with other health care professionals, ensure continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms by observing cardiac monitors; Responsible for monitoring the patient once nursing staff have attached patient to the telemetry unit
Assist in troubleshooting monitor equipment
Alert staff when a patient is in crisis
Admit new patients and code telemetry charges into computer system
Assist with orientation/cross-training of new personnel on the unit. Assist with general clerical duties as needed
Provide immediate information to nursing personnel of change in cardiac monitor status. Notify Clinical Coordinator and follow established policy.
Participate in performance improvement activities utilizing principles to support and improve patient care.
Demonstrate knowledge of unit goals and is active in committees and projects to achieve these goals.
Demonstrate excellent work attendance and attend and actively participate in a variety of meetings and training sessions as required.
Complies with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.
High School Graduate or GED
One (1) year experience performing work related to patient care in a healthcare setting, six (6) months of which must have included experience as a monitor technician OR successful completion of a training program OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
