Soils Laboratory Instruction Specialist

Purdue University seeks to hire a Soils Laboratory Instruction Specialist for its West Lafayette campus, in Indiana, to support the instruction of undergraduate students in the area of laboratory methods with focus on soil science. Develop, adjust and/or deploy curricular materials and standards, and laboratory and instructional procedures, for implementation across all laboratory-based agronomy classes, in residential and/or online formats. Collaborate in identifying learning outcomes, develop and implementing learning assessments; and modify curricula and instruction. Participate in identifying new topics, procedures, methodologies or field study opportunities for inclusion in laboratory methods courses. Prepare reagents, instruments and equipment in preparation for student learning activities in the lab. Assess and correct student laboratory safety problems and violations and prepare for student laboratory safety audits. Participate and contribute to agronomy research and enhancing departmental soils teaching portfolios. Master's in Life Sciences or related field. 4 years relevant hands-on knowledge, which may be gained from graduate or doctoral degree programs, coursework, internships, co-op workstudy, or other experience (which may be part-time or full-time), or from thesis/dissertation research, or from professional employment experience.
