Performs analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients.
Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to instrument operation and maintenance, troubleshooting assays, evaluating tests for accuracy, assisting with interpreting results, and operational support activities to optimize testing.
Works with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.
May work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection.
Must strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens, chemicals and other hazards.
Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems is desirable.
Must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, on-call, and weekend work assignments.
Individuals hired to this position are asked to complete 2 years in the role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic*

Clinical Laboratory Technologist-CLT
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a biological science (such as, but may not be limited to Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, etc.) Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program**
Clinical Laboratory Technologist-CLS
Graduate or student graduating within six months with a bachelor's degree in:
Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS)
Medical Technology (MT)
Or bachelor's degree plus Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology (MT), as recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is required. Applicants needing visa sponsorship must possess CGFNS Visa Screen certification upon Application**
Current contracted (contingent) employees of DLMP, former DLMP and Summer Lab Science Program (SLSP) employees, and graduates of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Medical Laboratory Science Program will receive preference.

Please be aware that training schedules may be different than the shift accepted upon hire. Initial training in many labs can take 2-6 months before new hires are moved to their work schedules accepted upon hire.
