Works with pathologists and other members of the healthcare and laboratory team to provide high quality laboratory results while upholding the Stormont Vail Tenets of compassion, patient safety and privacy, and improving the health of our community.
Education Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree Specializing in cytotechnology. Follows all hospital and departmental safety procedures. (Proficient in scientific principles, procedures, and protocols. (Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. (Records findings accurately in the medical record.
* Assists with fine needle aspiration collection and evaluation.
* Produces high-quality stained slides.
* Assists in maintaining adequate supplies and equipment for the department.
* Assists with teaching, training and mentoring cytotechnologist and medical lab assistant interns and trainees.
* Assists department leadership in development of budget, policies, procedures, work standards, and goal-setting.
