Job Summary
Assign, train, direct and work with a designated number of persons in the proper performance of their production operations, as assigned, under the direction of the Production Supervisor. Work involves meeting with responsible managers/planners to receive work orders instructions and schedules. Assist in the processing of work orders, visual controls, Kanban signals, and meeting with preceding or following shift supervisors or group leaders to maintain continuity of the production schedules and pass on pertinent information concerning schedules and assigned tasks and perform any of the assigned job functions in its entirety, in accordance with workload priorities.

Responsibilities
• Perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job title held at least 80% of time. Follow all safety rules and regulations. Meet production schedules and efficiency goals. Distribute work evenly with strict attention to worker’s skill level.
• Train and ensure fellow workers perform tasks in the prescribed manner utilizing intended jigs, fixtures, production aids, and safety equipment and procedures. Recommend methods, product revisions and equipment intended to simplify and improve operations, work conditions and quantity.
• Move parts, subassemblies or completed machines in and out of spray booth or cleaning station using hoist, overhead bridge crane or powered lift truck, as appropriate. Set up painting equipment, adjust spray guns, clean, as required. Fill paint tanks, add thinner and clean, sand tape and mask, all parts or completed machines for small blast and paint in accordance with established procedure
• Spray paint prime and finish coat as required. Apply prescribed protective coating as specified. Perform touch-up painting and cleaning in accordance with Inspection report. Apply decals or stencil in accordance with requirements.
• Detect and report faulty operation, defective material and equipment, drawing discrepancies and other unusual conditions and report to proper Supervisor. Produce work within acceptable quality and quantity standards.
• Maintain work area in neat and orderly condition. Record time and production into the data collection system, using bar code reader or computer terminal. Perform other similar or related duties as assigned in accordance with workload priorities. Receive direction from supervision. Work from instructions and established procedures and specifications.
• Maintain workflow in the area to be executed as smoothly as possible by assuring that necessary equipment and material be available on a timely basis. Responsible for assuring that all products in the area of responsibility are manufactured per current specifications and tested properly.
• Provide an active working basis for a team effort by providing the demonstrated know-how; positive, proactive attitude; and strong leadership.

Basic Qualifications
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED), one-year certificate from technical school; or three to six months related experience and /or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 6 months of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Equipment consists of paint spraying units, paint booths, paint brushes, sanders, grinders, powered lift trucks, man lift, scrapers, hand and powered wire brushes, small sand blast unit, masking tape and paper, cleaning solvents, grease, oil, steel wool, paint, paint thinner and a variety of other miscellaneous hand tools and materials pertinent to cleaning and painting.
• Must be able to communicate either verbally or in writing. Must be able to read and follow written instructions.
• Must be able to calculate liquid and powder measurements for proper mixing of paint, primer, cleaning solutions, etc.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Key Competencies
Absolute KEY skills needed for role
• Must have working knowledge of all tools, machines, and procedures in assigned work centers.
• Knowledge of installation, operation, maintenance and repair of compressed air equipment is preferred or other industrial equipment.
• Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable and well organized. Basic PC skills, including experience using MS Word, Excel or equivalent. 
• Problem solving and analytical skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and equipment of various sizes.
