The ED at Adventist Health Portland is a busy community-based department that sees a high volume of critical care.
Geographically, it is situated to serve Eastern Portland, Gresham, Northwest Clackamas County, and the rural communities beyond the metro area. Because of AHPL's partnership with OHSU several research projects and community initiatives are being conducted. Currently, AHPL is the second highest enroller of participants in the ICECAP study that is looking at target temperature management in post cardiac arrest patients. We are also a participant in the Reason 3 study that is looking at correspondence between ECG and Bedside Ultrasound in the treatment of cardiac arrest. AHPL is also a pioneer in the treatment of substance use disorder and has partnered with Fora Health for the continuation of care for this population.
Delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, and coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment.
Education and Work Experience:
~9 Months registered nurse experience or completion of the Adventist Health RN residency program: 1-year Acute care facility experience: Previous experience working as an RN in an Emergency dept preferred.
~ Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
Participates in discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care.
Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
